What's Happening at NHS Art: AP Drawing

Advanced Placement Drawing students are currently working on both their breadth and concentration pieces of their portfolio.  AP Drawing students have been working on Transformation in composition. Check it out...
Starr Granados enjoys drawing and painting portraits.  Her concept is about natural beauty verses impression of beauty..

Stella Runningen is working on the concept of solidarity verses unity in a group through the composition of figures in dance.
Through the use of silhouette juxtaposed with mixed media, Molly Rector illustrates through her drawing "sitting on the edge of informaton."
Kaley Knight illustrates the contrast between nature and technology in her piece.
Through the use of a triptych,  Emily Archer build the suspense of one's anger and the aftermath thereof.
By using two images, known as a diptych, Samantha Newcomb contrasts the feeling of excitement before a big game on the left verses the deflated feeling after a loss on the right.
Through the use of backgrounds, Nadjae Murphy's concept is the transformation  between confidence in youth and confusion with coming of age.
Mackenzie Fletcher is working with unusual surfaces.  By using playground equipment from Hinkle Creek Elementary where she attended as a child, Mackenzie references her childhood with a mixed media of pages from books she has read.

By using a variety of background colors, the idea of strength through others verses weakness when alone is portrayed in Katie Post's work.

What's Happening at NHS Art: AP 3D

Featured Classroom:AP 3D Art
Advanced Placement 3D Art students are currently working on both their breadth and concentration pieces of their portfolio.  Check it out...

Leah Hanley is currently working on kinetic art (art that moves.)  This particular piece may seem like a plain box on the outside , however it is an explosion of color and abstract form on the inside.

Sally Roberts is creating an abstract wood piece that incorporates radial symmetry.

Jensen Myers is designing a Native American inspired piece carved from wood.  Jensen is experimenting with subtractive carving methods using a Dremel.

Paul Williams is working on an abstract fruit bowl that resembles a traditional still life painting.  He is using balloons to house wet plaster as a mold.  Paul recently completed a material culture piece featuring a myriad of objects in mason jars.

Ali Dressler is creating a sculpture made of found objects such as panty hose and wire.  Ali's breadth pieces are all about organic forms.

Emily Kado is sculpting a wooden sculpture made of small dow rods.  Emily's concentration is "implied line."

Ashley Dishman is making a luminary out of clay.  Ashley is planning on incorporating glass into the negative space to enhance the use of light and to add a unique quality to her work.

Meredith Watson is working with paper engineering.  She plans to design each piece of paper with an organic line design and then piece it together on a platform.  Meredith's concentration features how light travels through objects.

Hunter Bragg is making a horse fired hand.  Hunter is exploring the human form in her concentration.

Paiton Moon is carving a figure from clay.

Kylee Carr is working on a puppet made of wire.  She chose a puppet because she said the wire reminded her of string.  Kylee is currently experimenting with using multiples of mass produced objects such as toothpicks.
